1.26.11
I'm so bummed I cut her bow off here, and that I didn't look at my settings and way underexposed the original but it was cute to not try and save. I think it turned out pretty well :)

Finally getting around to doing Week 3 of "12 Weeks to Better Photos". This week is all about White Balance, I forgot to label the pictures but they are in the same order (top: auto white balance, middle: tungsten white balance, and bottom: custom white balance). Both were in our bathroom since that's the best lighting in the house and I found that auto and custom looked almost identical in other areas and I wanted to show the difference it can make.
And a couple bonus fun shots. Harper picked out her outfit today. She's stylish :) Don't you just LOVE the shoes? $3 on clearance at Target!
I used presets on these for fun and there was also part of a wipes package in the picture of the shoes and I edited it out. Except I'm not really all that great with Photoshop just yet, so my way of editing it out was a bit unconventional. I brushed over it with black until it disappeared. So depending on your monitor, if you see the brush strokes...ignore them. I will learn how to properly edit out unwanted things in photos soon. Just throwing that out there in case it's visible on other screens and you all wondering what in the world I tried to do :-D
One more :)
A super close crop so you can see the reflection of her eyes. Tilt your head and you can make out my camera and the flash bouncing off the ceiling. You can click on this one to make it bigger too.
Also, an edit on the "auto white balance" example in Harper's collage. I love this picture of her. 90% of this edit was using the dropper to custom white balance in Lightroom and then I did my normal tweaks to brighten, contrast, etc. - skin tone is one of my biggest challenges and I've been working on it a lot lately. I think I'm getting somewhat better! Still LOTS to learn about it though :)

Late Night Addition!
Lets play the one photo: seven different ways game, shall we? I was testing out a set-up to take some Valentine's Day pictures of the girls, then had fun editing one of the pictures when I was done :)
SOOC (straight off of the camera), shot in RAW with only the +50 brightness and +25 contrast that Lightroom automatically adds on import:
My normal, regular, whatever you want to call it edit:
A simple b&w conversion:
Now a little fun with presets and actions :)
And a totally vintage look from the Pioneer Woman's actions for Photoshop!

1.18.11
I'm too lazy to make two blogs tonight so I'm putting these all over here.
I also have pictures from week 3 of "12 weeks to better photos" to post, but I'll include those (and a link to the lesson if any of you are following along) later. It's been a busy week!
